The 16-page Iúr Cinn Fleadh Event Guide is being launched this week – in full colour and boasting more than 80 activities celebrating music, culture and the arts.
Created by committee member Columba O’Hare and Newry designer Johnny Savage, this vibrant publication shows that from a headline gig by the legendary Altan, to sessions galore, to Trad Cruises on Newry Canal, church concerts, a Ghost Walk, Bikes and Beats on the Street, TenX9 conversations, gaming sessions – as well as plenty of children’s events – there’s something for everyone.
It’s been ten years since the first Iúr Cinn Fleadh – and the hope is this will be the best yet. New events this year include a Newry Food Tour, a flotilla of boats, 5k run, Panic Station Comedy, a Choral Trail – and even a Photography Walk. On top of all that, during a cost-of-living crisis, it’s encouraging to know that most events are completely free.
The Fleadh committee are ‘incredibly grateful’ to the two main sponsors – Newry BID and The National Lottery Community Fund. Without their support, the festival would not happen. In addition, thanks go to Narrow Water Events for hosting the Altan concert, in conjunction with the Fleadh.
The committee also acknowledge a team of hard-working volunteers, who spend much time making sure the festival is as good as it possibly can be. Print copies of the Event Guide should be available soon at various outlets around the city centre. You can also download the Guide here.
