Iúr Cinn Fleadh 2018

Newry ready for Iúr Cinn Fleadh September 2018

The 5th annual  Iúr Cinn Fleadh takes place in Newry city from Thursday 6th to Sunday 9th of September 2018.

In a short five years the festival has established itself firmly on the trad and folk music scene, showcasing the incredible depth of talent available in the city and hosting world class musicians and singers.

Happening just over two weeks after Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann down the road in Drogheda it’s the perfect time to get those instruments out of their cases and warmed up again!

In one of the fleadh’s most popular events, Newry’s historic Canal will once again see trad musicians playing on board a tall ship sailing down the waterway at regular intervals over the weekend.

The buzzing Trad Trail sessions in local bars, storytelling, spectacular concerts, Musical Icon Award, workshops and dancers and even comedy are all back for 2018. Last year the festival saw the very first Newry Trad Youth Orchestra performing in the historic Riverside Church and this year the fleadh will move up a notch, once again bringing top class events and artists to Newry.

Newry is well know for it’s welcome, great bars and restaurants, top class accommodation and of course it’s easy access to Belfast and Dublin. Sure why not give it a try!
