As part of Iúr Cinn Fleadh – Newry’s annual Irish music and community festival – Newry and Mourne Museum will host a series of captivating events over the Bank Holiday weekend. There will be something for everyone, from lively music sessions to engaging art workshops and thought-provoking discussions. Here’s a quick look at what’s on:
– Saturday, 23 August from 1:30pm-3:30pm Trad Trail Session: ‘The McCartin Family and Farney Friends’ kick off the weekend with a lively session of traditional Irish music that’s sure to get your feet tapping. – Monday, 25 August from 12:30pm-1:30pm: Wee Bee Art Workshop & Storytelling with Sticky Fingers – a fun and creative session for the museum’s youngest visitors, blending art and storytelling. This is a free event, but booking is essential. Email Declan.Carroll@nmandd.org to reserve your place;
– Monday, 25 August from 1:30pm-2:30pm: The Plight Of The Bumblebee with Brenda Castles. Join Meath musician Brenda Castles for a special presentation of her short film and traditionally inspired soundtrack, highlighting the plight of the bee population.
