Iúr Cinn Fleadh has secured a new boat for their unique Trad Cruise. An eleventh hour crisis set the team spinning and they found themselves phoning round Ireland in search of a replacement vessel.
Just when they thought they’d run out of all options, the Sea Quest appeared on the horizon. Fresh from another festival, owners Cunningham Charters were able to fit in Iúr Cinn Fleadh, too.
Normally the Fleadh team try to find a traditional tall ship with antique patina. With sleek, modern looks, Sea Quest is more James Bond than Grace O’Malley, but will bring a stunning new ambience to the festival.
The Iúr Cinn Fleadh team assure festival goers they they will have the same fun two-hour trip down the historic Newry Canal with refreshments and wonderful music.
‘We look forward to welcoming visitors and locals on board,’ said Fleadh team member Columba O’Hare. ‘Most tickets have gone, but if you check online you might find some spaces.’
Cunningham Charters is the region’s newest coastal experience. The crew offer boat trips, wildlife tours and private charters along the breathtaking shores of County Down.
Up to 12 people can chase sunsets or simply soak up the balmy air. Fleadh revellers will be able to take in the sights of the stunning Newry Canal and listen to live music with a glass of wine in hand.
Sea Quest is licensed by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine to carry 12 passengers and two crew. There are lifejackets and a toilet onboard.
‘Someone up there was looking after us, in securing this beautiful boat,’ said Columba O’Hare.
