All aboard the Trad Cruise

Sail into the heart of Newry – with the soul of Irish myth, music and merriment.

Yes, the highly popular Trad Cruise is back for 2023 – this time with a ship named after the legendary High King of Ireland himself, Brian Ború.

CANAL VOYAGE

That means your journey along the historic Newry Canal not only offers ‘live’ Irish traditional music and a glass or two of wine – but also has a mythic undercurrent.

Enjoy your very own canal voyage on this beautiful traditional wooden sailing ship that’s usually hugging the coastline of Ireland’s Ancient East.

This time the Brian Ború is taking Fleadh folk along the Newry Canal – the first summit level canal to be built in Ireland or Britain – and pre-dating North-West England’s more famous Bridgewater Canal and Sankey Canal.

CLASSIC TUNES

The Brian Ború is the culmination of years of renovation. The classic lines of its sailing hull echo the historic sailing drifters of the early 20th century.

So grab your wine, grasp some history and capture some classic tunes as you go. And just maybe, a heron will fly alongside to guide you back to Newry. Book now before all the places go – click on TICKETS and bon voyage!
